Welcome to the IABC BC Social Media Strategic Interest Group Wiki

The IABC BC Social Media Strategic Interest Group is open to all members of the IABC BC Chapter. The group discusses how social media can be incorporated into our communications practices.

Our Next Meet Up

Social Media SIG - Time to roll up our sleeves

Interested in social media but haven't had a chance to use it in your communications practice? Then roll up your sleeves and join us for a planning session to explore how we could collaborate on a social media project for a worthy non-profit. It will be a great opportunity to work with your IABC colleagues, gain valuable experience, and give back to the community!

At the meeting we'll discuss:

  • Is there sufficient interest and commitment to take on such a project?
  • What are people's specific interests are in doing such a project? We'll need research, planning, creative, implementation, measurement on the back end, etc.
  • How would we collaboratively develop and implement the plan?
  • What are the selection criteria we will use to choose a project?
  • Realistically, what will our timelines be? Summer is almost here after all.

Thursday, June 3

Yaletown Brewing

5:30 - 7:00 p.m.

An RSVP is not required, but feel free to join our WIKI (http://iabc-bc-smg.pbworks.com/) and leave us a comment to let us know you are coming. Tweet @robscoms for more information.

I'm definitely interested especially if a) we're interested in attaining measurable results and b) we aim to work for an organization with sustainability as a primary focus or at least in part of their organizational drivers.

Hey Jason... We absolutely have to have measurable results for the project. I'm happy to have Ryan Williams on board and hope we can use his talents in that respect!

As for the type of organization we are going to volunteer our services to, that is a matter for the group to discuss and come to a consensus on. I hope you will come to the meeting and take part in the conversation.

I plan to be there. New to B.C. but not to Be The Change Earth Alliance (as a volunteer), or IABC. Please look for this movement on Facebook or www.bethechangeearthalliance.org. I understand there will be a group discussion and I would like to introduce my fellow IABC members to this organization. I'd welcome your help or ideas in promoting it.

I'm looking forward to this!

I'm a newbie here, so I'd like to quickly introduce myself: I'm a current Business and Communications student from SFU, and I'm a new IABC member. This will be the first IABC event that I'm attending. I can't wait to meet brilliant minds through this organization!
